Our Physical Therapists are highly trained and use only safe and effective evidence-based physical therapy. Education is important to our staff, and through seminars and continuing education, we ensure our therapists know the latest and most effective techniques in their field. Clay Smith
Physical Therapist
Clay Smith has been working for Columbia Physical Therapy for 12 years. He served a mission for his church from 1988 to 1990 in Peru where he became fluent in Spanish. He graduated with a B.S. Degree from BYU in 1996. Clay attended physical therapy school in Houston, Texas and graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy in December 2001. Following graduation he moved with his young family to Kennewick and started working in the Pasco Clinic in January of 2002.
Clay has competed in high school and collegiate athletics. He has extensive experience and training in treating a variety of orthopedic and neurological disorders. Clay has a particular interest in sports medicine and athletic training and has coached many recreational and middle school athletic programs. Clay has been performing physical capacity evaluations for over 10 years and has continuing education for PCE training. Professional memberships include the American Physical Therapy Association, the Washington State Chapter, and the National Private Practice Section.
Clay married Genene in 1992 and they have four children, Lindsey, Cameron, Andrew and Sadie. All are active and involved in community service, music, church and outdoor activities.
Brian Brooks
Physical Therapist
Brian Brooks has been an outpatient PT in Pasco for over 20 years. He graduated with a B.S. Degree from BYU in 1990 and then earned a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 1993. After working for 2 ½ years at Lourdes Hospital, he has worked at Columbia Physical Therapy in Pasco for over 18 years.
An avid runner, Brian has completed 7 marathons and enjoys working with sports related injuries. He also has extensive experience and training in treating a variety of orthopedic and neurological disorders. He has worked with local schools and businesses in developing injury prevention programs. He has had extensive training and experience in industrial rehabilitation including work hardening and physical capacity evaluations. Professional memberships include the American Physical Therapy Association, the Washington State Chapter, and the National Private Practice Section. He attends continuing education courses regularly to keep his skills sharp.
Brian married Julene Pierce from Claremont, CA in 1987. They have four children, Taylor, Kaylee, Brittany, and Benjamin. All are active and involved in the community, community service, and Brian currently serves on the Kennewick School Board.
Belen Lopez
Office Manager
Belen has been with Columbia Physical Therapy since 2012 as their Office Manager. handles all the fundamentals of running the front office including insurance inquires, insurance verification and problem solving any patient account status. She is the first smile you see and her goal is to help everyone have a good experience in our clinic.
Belen enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She enjoys traveling, camping, fishing and football.

Melissa Coppinger
Aide
Melissa has been with Columbia Physical Therapy since 2013 as a Physical Therapist Aide. She helps patients with their basic needs during an appointment, and assists Brian and Clay with physical therapy procedures and exercises.
Melissa is currently in college to become a physical therapy assistant. When she is not at work, Melissa enjoys coaching the Kamiakin Dance Team.
Chris McCallum
Aide
Chris has been with Columbia Physical Therapy since 2005 as a Physical Therapist Aide. He helps patients with their basic needs during an appointment and assists with physical therapy exercises. When he is not at work Chris enjoys fishing, camping and just being outside.
